The U74HC14L is a member of the 74XXXX series IC. U74HC14L IC has six NOT gates with SCHMITT TRIGGER . The name HEX INVERTING SCHMITT TRIGGER comes from this. The IC converts signal waveforms to square waves. Non-square waveforms can be converted to square waves using Schmitt trigger gates on the 74HC14. It helps in converting sinusoidal or triangular waves to square waves using the Schmitt trigger gate.
