DHT11 sensor is a digital signal output component used to sense temperature and humidity of the surroundings. This module operates at 3.5 to 5.5V DC. Operating current of the module is 0.3mA when it is measuring temperature and humidity. Operating current when the module is on standby is 60uA. This module can sense the temperature in the range of 0°C to 50°C and humidity from 20% to 90%.
The temperature is measured by using dedicated NTC in the module. There is an 8-bit microcontroller unit in the module which output values of humidity and temperature as serial data. There are 4 pins in the sensor which are +, Out, NC and –. + is connected to the positive terminal of the power supply and – is connected to the ground of the circuit. Out is the output pin. Value of humidity and temperature can be extracted from Out pin in the form of serial data. It is used in many automation projects like environment monitoring, automatic climate control, temperature alarms, humidity regulators, etc.
