MAX7219 LED Dot Matrix 4 in...

MAX7219 is a 4-in-1 display that may be used in a variety of ways. The Dot Matrix Module is a serial input/output common-cathode display driver that connects a microcontroller to a 7-segment digital LED display with 8 numbers, a bar graph display, or 64 independent LEDs. A B-type BCD encoder chip, a multi-channel scanning loop segment word controller, and a static RAM 8 × 8 for storing each data.  The individual module has a total of 8x8 LEDs, each of which is controlled very precisely by the MAX7219 driver to produce the desired pattern. The advantage of employing this is that users would be able to control all 64 LEDs by simply attaching three output communication wires to microcontrollers such as Arduino. It's a simple four-wire serial interface that can connect to most microprocessors. Each piece of data can be addressed separately, eliminating the need to update all displays at the same time. The MAX7219 additionally gives the user the option of encoding or not encoding each piece of data.
