UDN2981A 8-channel Source D...

These devices are recommended for applications where it's advantageous to have separate logic and load grounds. They support load supply voltages up to 50 V and can handle output currents as high as -500 mA. These 8-channel source drivers are particularly useful for connecting low-level logic to high-current loads. Typical examples of such loads include relays, solenoids, lamps, stepper or servo motors, print hammers, and LEDs. You can use these devices with 5 V logic systems like TTL, Schottky TTL, DTL, and 5 V CMOS. The different device packages available are interchangeable and can handle a maximum output voltage of 50 V while operating down to a minimum of 5 V. All devices in this series come with integrated input current limiting resistors and output transient suppression diodes, and they activate with an active high input. If you see a suffix "A," it signifies an 18-lead plastic dual in-line package with a copper lead frame designed for optimal power dissipation. These devices are capable of sustaining a continuous current of 120 mA for each of the eight outputs under normal operating conditions, with an ambient temperature of +50°C and a 15 V supply.

Features:

  •  TTL, DTL, PMOS, or CMOS compatible inputs
  •  500 mA output source current capability
  • Transient-protected outputs
  • Output breakdown voltage to 50 V
